Sony Offers Reward to Identify PSN Hackers

An inside source has released new information about the aftermath of the hacking attack on the Play Station Network. According to the source, the Tokyo based tech giant is thinking about putting a price on the hackers’ heads. The company appears to be deeply struck by the security breach which could have implicated 100 million users of the Play Station Network.

The consideration of offering a handsome reward for the capture of the cyber attackers displays the gravity of the situation. Sony appears to be determined to bring the criminals to justice before the company’s reputation is damaged further. As of now, the Play Station Network is still offline.

It is expected that the FBI and other law enforcement authorities all over the world will back Sony in its quest to find the attackers.  The company stated that the identities of the hackers are still out of reach and that the financial and personal data of PSN users have been stolen.

However, suggestions have been made that the infamous hacking group Anonymous appears to be associated with the group. The allegation was made as files which were labeled ‘Anonymous’ and ‘We are legion’ were found on their servers. The latter of the file names is a slogan of Anonymous. The group however, denies any involvement in the breach.

Sony’s share price appears to have suffered the impact from the hack as it is sliding each day. The company doesn’t seem to be doing so well with customers either. As for government agencies, they continue to press for answer.

According to experts, the Chief Executive Officer Sir Howard Stringer, along with the company’s board of directors will give consent to offer a substantial reward for the turn in of the culprits. It is expected that once the decision is made and published, it will be a matter of time until the PSN hackers are exposed.
