It is very important to spend little time and investigate through family members and internet to choose a reliable mover amongst many moving companies. Why am saying this? Because when you want to go out for a dinner, you probably read some reviews about restaurants, or when you want to buy a TV, I am sure you spend a lot of time and various reviews.

So when you want to move and hand over all your belongings to a moving company, don’t you want use little time to investigate? I am sure you must have some precious items that you want them safe when you are relocated to your new home.

There are various ways to choose a good moving company:

  1. The first thing you can do is to ask your friends and family, they can refer you reliable movers.
  2. The second place is internet, look for moving company comparison and ratings.
  3. Decide what type of moving company you need. There are different movers: interstate movers, local mover, packing only service, etc.
  4. Choose the kind of mover you need, such as a relocation service, interstate moving company, local mover, pack-and-stack service, household shipper or trucking service.
  5. Take a few of them you think you can trust.
  6. Make a phone call to each of them in your list and ask for a quotation. If they quote you over the phone, then skip it and go to next. This is the first sign you can distinguish between scam movers and reliable ones. A trusted mover will quote you only after attending at your home and seeing your furniture.
  7. Contact Department of Transportation and Better Business Bureau and check their reports to see about the complaints and how they have been resolved.
  8. Ask an estimator to visit your home and show him everything you want to move, this has two benefits, first is you get quotation and you can compare them, the second is you are interviewing representative of moving companies and you will get lots of information which will help you which company to hire.

If you take this steps you hopefully will have a smooth and satisfactory relocation with minimum loss.
